How much does a Wedding Planner cost?

Updated: Feb 8, 2021

Now you know what a wedding planner does and how they can help you (if you don’t, read my ‘What do Wedding Planners do’ blog) it is important to understand how much they cost so that you can factor this into your wedding planning budget.

Firstly, it is important to know that the wedding planners’ costs are not just reflective of the amount of time it takes to plan a wedding (anywhere between 200-400 hours), but also our wealth of experience, ability to maximise our clients’ budgets and save you money, the logistics during the planning process and on the day of your wedding. They also cover all of our business costs, the teams we have to support us on your wedding day and the benefits of being able to access our talented and trusted network of suppliers.

Wedding Planners have years of experience and are experts in planning weddings in all types of spaces, from dry hire venues to marquees at home to purpose-built wedding venues, as well as transforming the blankest of canvases into the most stylish spaces to exceed all of your expectations for your big day.

Planners in the luxury wedding market do not overcrowd their calendars. This means that you are often part of a small group of clients, taken on annually, to ensure you get the undivided attention that your beautiful wedding deserves.

What is the cost of Full Wedding Planning?

When working with Your Best Day Ever, Full Wedding Planning includes locating your perfect wedding venue, sourcing high quality, trusted wedding suppliers, organising and attending meetings with all suppliers. I act as the main point of contact for all those involved in your wedding day. Most importantly, I take away all the stress of wedding planning and allow to have a wedding day where you are present, free of distractions… your best day ever.

Most UK wedding planners charge either a percentage of your total budget or a fixed price. These pricing options are often dependent upon the level of support and services you require.

A bit more

· On average, when charging by a percentage, 10-15% is the norm, with minimum fees applying.

· Minimum fees for wedding planners in the UK often range from £3,500-£10,000

· A fixed fee is often applied to high end, large budget weddings (6 figures +)

· Your Best Day Ever is, however, happy to work with varying budgets and arrange suitable investment charges that best suit the client e.g. fixed fees instead of percentages.

Examples:

Wedding Budget of £45,000

Percentage of 10% = £4500

Minimum fee of £4000 = £4000

The percentage is the higher figure, so this will be the price of the planning investment.

Wedding Budget of £45,000

Percentage of 10% = £4500

Minimum fee of £5000 = £5000

The minimum fee is the higher figure, so this will be the price of the planning investment.

What is the cost of Bespoke or Partial Planning?

When working with Your Best Day Ever, Bespoke planning is right for you if you have planned elements of your wedding e.g. venue & caterer but now need some professional support from a wedding planner to continue sourcing high quality, trusted wedding suppliers, organising and attending meetings with all suppliers. I act as the main point of contact for all those involved in your wedding day. Most importantly, I take away all the stress of wedding planning and allow to have a wedding day where you are present, free of distractions… your best day ever.

Most UK wedding planners charge in a similar way to Full Planning - either a percentage of your total budget or a fixed price. These pricing options are often dependent upon the level of support and services you require.

· On average, when charging by a percentage, 10-12% is the norm, with minimum fees applying.

· Minimum fees for wedding planners in the UK often range from £3,000-£10,000

What is the cost of On-the-Day Planning / Wedding Management?

When working with Your Best Day Ever, On-the-Day planning is for couples who have organised most of your wedding planning, but would like to be present on their wedding day and free of distractions, by handing over their plans to a professional wedding planner who can manage their suppliers, oversee the set up and ensure that timings are followed on the day, along with many more elements.

YBDE always meets with the couple a prior to their wedding day. This is to run through the wedding day details that, after which the I will contact all your carefully chosen wedding suppliers. A comprehensive and detailed event schedule of the wedding day will also be compiled.

The costs for On-the-Day Planning are often priced by a fixed fee:

· Wedding Day Management often starts at £850. This figure is often for couples who ask for a planner to attend their wedding for a limited number of hours as opposed to the full day.

· For Full Day Management, the investment is often in the region of £1000 – £1500.

· These fees are often calculated by the complexity of a wedding and number of guests.

What is the cost of Micro Planning?

Whether you are choosing a micro wedding, or the regulations mean your plans have changed to have a smaller day then you may feel like you need some guidance.

If you are having 30 guests or less, then you are having a micro wedding.

Even with smaller guest numbers, couples are still hiring wedding planners to support them through their planning journey using their professional advice to save you time and help you balance wedding planning with everyday life, (when it may seem impossible)

At YBDE I take the same approach to Micro Wedding Planning as I would to Full Wedding planning so you would gain a professional planner to help source venues that are appropriate for smaller guest numbers and choose the best suppliers that would help to

All whilst working within guidelines if this is the reason for your micro wedding.

A little more:

· Most wedding planners have a fixed fee approach to Micro Wedding Planning.

· However, depending on the complexity and budget of a client’s micro wedding then a percentage, of 8%-12%, with minimum fees applying may be applied.

· Your Best Day Ever is, however, happy to work with varying budgets and arrange suitable investment charges that best suit the client e.g. fixed fees instead of percentages.

Hidden costs

It is very rare to find any ‘hidden costs’ during your wedding planning when you hire a wedding planner. At Your Best Day Ever, I am completely transparent with my pricing, so that my clients know exactly how much my fee is and

However, I would always recommend that you speak to the planners about any travel and accommodation charges that they price separately.

As said above, it is not uncommon for planners to require accommodation if a wedding is happening over a few days or is a reasonable distance away from their home address.

If you are thinking about hiring a wedding planner or would like talk about wedding planning options in more detail and how we can help you save precious time, money and relieve you of all the common wedding planning stresses, then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

I would love to have a virtual coffee or cocktail with you!
