Event Experience

 

Hi everyone!

I know how difficult it can be to get a foot in the door in the event industry, you seem like its either 'its who you know, not what you know' or you have to have 20 years industry experience by the time your 20 years old... not too difficult right?!

​

Well... I want to be able to give you the experience to put on your CV, and actually learn a thing or two about event planning.

So... I have a waiting list of people who would like to come and work with me. Send me your details and I will do my very best to get you in and working with me as soon as possible... or if I hear of any experience/jobs going around I will let you know!

Ps. I can write a really good reference for you too!

I provide three different options for the experience:

​

On the day experience:

Come and work with me on a wedding/event day! 

Once you register for this experience, I will send you a link to my private Facebook Group, where I will post days where you can come and gain experience on the day.

It will be a first come first serve way of gaining your spot for that particular day.

You will be involved with everything from set up, to ceremony, reception, first dance and pack down!

It will be a jam-packed day but you will not only learn about on-the-day management,but also what a planner does behind the scenes!

3 days of experience:

Come and work with me for 3 days!

Once you register for this experience, I will send you a link to my private Facebook Group.

One meeting with a client

One 'office day' where you see the behind the scenes of Your Best Day Ever

(This involves the paperwork, spreadsheets, supplier calls and maybe even venue finding!)

Run and event day with me

This could be a Wedding, Baby Shower, Proposal. You will help set up and learn what a planner does on the day of an event.

1 - 4 weeks of experience:

This is the most in-depth in person experience on offer!

I AM THE ONLY WORKING WEDDING/EVENT PLANNER PLANNER WHO OFFERS IN-PERSON WORK EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING ALL IN ONE! 

Once you register for this experience, I will send you a link to my private Facebook Group.

You can choose to work with me over 1-4 weeks.

You pay for this experience as it is much more hands-on.

 I provide you with booklets and information to take home to use

e.g. this can include template spreadsheets, planning specs and much more.

Once you finish this training, unless you gave chosen a bespoke option/topic, you will know:

• How to plan a wedding step-by-step

• What a wedding planner does

• Services to offer

• Business Basics

• How to budget and fees to charge

• What you are likely to earn/how to ensure you are the most profitable you can be

• Launching a business

• Websites, Branding and Social Media

• I can also tailor this experience to your needs, for example, if you would like to focus on party planning rather than weddings.

• This is a form of professional training, along with the templates and in person training, you will also receive my 'You have completed training with Your Best Day Ever' logo to use on your website, if and when you create it.

Notes before you apply for experience:

​

• Regardless of the option you choose this is a really relaxed and informal form of experience, there is no pressure or judging in any way! This is not a test, you do not have to have any experience whatsoever, I am not interviewing you for a job or judging you in any way, this is just a fun and relaxed way to get some experience!

​

• The events I run are often based in Essex or London, so just make sure that you can get to venues either by driving yourself or getting a lift/transport there and back. 

​

On-the-Day free experience

​

• It is very likely that you will be with up to other 3 people like you. I do try to limit numbers to a maximum 2/3 people seeking experience at a time so that I can give each of you the time to ask questions etc. However it may just be 1 person at a time, depending on the number of requests for experience during a period.

​

• Days are usually quite long, especially for weddings so please be prepared to work between 8-13 hours.

​

• Once you send your request for experience, I will get back to you within 7 days, I always try my best to get you in for experience within 3 months of your initial request. I will let you know either your place on the waiting list or dates that I have available.

​

• When I reply, you will find a link to a private Facebook group. Along with other information, tips, live videos and more, I will put a list of dates that you can come and work with me for the day. It will be first come first serve for whoever comments on a post. However, I will always try my best to ensure that everyone who has sent me a request for this work experience gets a chance to come and work with me!

​

• I will send you all the information in the email, just so you know exactly what you will be doing at that time.

​

• I will give you the full rundown of what you will do during the experience, as it will vary depending on what I have on at that time, but remember, it is a no-pressure environment.

​

3 days free experience

​

• You may be with a few other people like you, I limit numbers to a maximum 2/3 people seeking experience at a time so that I can give each of you the time to ask questions etc. However it may just be 1 person at a time, depending on the number of requests for experience during a period.

​

•  The three days may not be consecutive (just due to the way I work or the work that I have on at that point in time - also due to your schedule too) however, I aim to keep the 3 days within a 2 week window.

​

• Once you send your request for experience, I will get back to you within 7 days, I always try my best to get you in for experience within 3 months of your initial request. I will let you know either your place on the waiting list or dates that I have available.

​

• When I reply, you will find a link to a private Facebook group. Along with other information, tips, live videos and more, for those who are struggling to find 3 days that are available for them, I will put a list of dates that you can come and work with me for the day. It will be first come first serve for whoever comments on a post.

     However, I will only do this, once I have arranged days first, these will just be the remaining days that I have available.

• I will send you all the information in the email, just so you know exactly what you will be doing at that time.

​

• I will give you the full rundown of what you will do during the experience, as it will vary depending on what I have on at that time, but remember, it is a no-pressure environment. You can't do anything wrong, you can pause it at any time e.g. if something comes up on a day you have experience with me that you would rather do, then go do it! I will not hold you to anything!

1-4 weeks experience

​

• Once you send your request for experience, I will get back to you within 48 hours.

​

• Along with the length of your experience, you can also choose whether you would like 1-2-1 experience or if you are happy to be in a group (usually no more than 3 people subject to change).

​

• I always try to keep the days/weeks consecutive, however I appreciate that this is not always appropriate for you/me so we will work around both schedules.

​

• I will send you all the information in the email, just so you know exactly what you will be doing at that time.

​

• I will give you the full rundown of what you will do during the experience, as it will vary depending on what I have on at that time, but remember, it is a no-pressure environment. You can't do anything wrong, you can pause it at any time e.g. if something comes up on a day you have experience with me that you would rather do, then go do it! I will not hold you to anything!

​

• Investment:

1 week, group: £400

2 weeks, group: £550

3 weeks, group: £ 700

4 weeks, group: £900

​

1 week, 1-2-1: £1000

2 weeks, 1-2-1: £1500

3 weeks, 1-2-1: £2000

4 weeks, 1-2-1: £2500

Many of my previous students have claimed that the booklets that you receive during this training combined with my online training are like your wedding planning career bible!

Side note:

I personally found it a bit of a struggle inching my way into this career... I was always being told 'start off at the bottom and work your way to the top' but my younger self was not going to have this! 

Top Tip: This may not be what you want to hear (I know it wasn't for me) but I would suggest getting some bar/waiting experience at a venue. A lot of my event planner/venue coordinator friends have got lucky by being in the right place at the right time and after being a bartender/waitress for a year or so (doesn't have to be full time, just on the odd weekends or in the Wedding season), got lucky and were able to be trained up as a coordinator!

In my experience, just learning and seeing how an event runs, without the initial responsibility is so valuable. I worked for a catering company for around 4/5 months and it actually helped get be a job at a venue, because they liked the fact that I had worked in catering!
